The need

Old Street Solutions had the idea for a plugin (Custom Charts for Jira) that would visually simplify reporting for Jira users, and needed a partner that could help them develop it. The most challenging thing from the start was to create a platform for Custom Charts for Jira and Confluence that would simplify development deployment and maintenance on cloud servers and data center platforms. Creating a generic frontend to work in all of these environments with minimum effort, while still harnessing the benefits of each environment, seemed a difficult challenge. They also needed a lightweight and cost-effective infrastructure that was capable of scaling up to handle heavy loads of data requests. Old Street Solutions had heard good reviews about Hotovo from several people in the Atlassian ecosystem. Various parameters fell into place and our two companies started our journey, working together to create Custom Charts.

The challenge we had to solve!

Our solution

Hotovo was initially responsible for developing a Confluence server and cloud MVP version to demonstrate that we were capable of delivering the add-on with required functionality, built on a generic platform. After a successful demonstration of the MVP, we started working on the Jira application: Custom Charts for Jira, which has been highly successful, and which we’ve continued to develop ever since. The development is ongoing, and we are continually working on new features that make the add-on even better.

Key results

We reached 2,000 installations in the Atlassian marketplace within one year.
The flagship app, Custom Charts for Jira, grew from just 17 instances in 2019 to 2,072 instances in 2021, with growth tripling in the first six months of 2021 alone.
There are now over 400,000 people and counting using Custom Charts for Jira to build their reports.
The Old Street Solutions / Hotovo team was awarded a prize as Atlassian’s Fastest Growing Marketplace Partner for Cloud in 2020.
